With deep winter upon us, these are great alternative heaters for people on electric heat. They provide 23,000 BTU - more than enough to heat 2-3 easily. VERY hot. Foutchie loves to roast her fur next to it. Runs for about 12 hours, a little longer if you cut it back. Easy refill, good protective guard. I have paid $50 more for ones not as high quality.
I have had this brand before and they are long lasting. |

I'm a heater finatic. I refuse to heat my whole house if I dont have to. I have a gas log fireplace thats pretty good and gas heat. I find that if i set my gas heat thermostat to 69 i'm not satisfied even if i'm running the fireplace.
That being said. during the day when i'm around and about I leave the furnace at 66 just enough to keep the edge off. We kick the fireplace on as needed now and then.
Now with the kerosene heater I kick it on and very quickly it will raise my house to about 74 75 degrees. (I have 3400 sqft home) all the down stairs and the majority of the upstairs is pretty darn toasty once you kick this thing on.
The smell issue i suppose is an issue but its a small price to pay for comfort especially since you hardly notice it after a while. I noticed I saved money too on my utility bills. Not a ton as I still ran my furnace at night while i slept. But I also enjoyed a nice nice comfortable amount of heat I didnt get to enjoy last year. Part of me is pondering getting another one and utilizing this form of heat more often maybe eliminate my gas heat all together. I might just see how it goes during the rougher months see how much fuel this thing sux up then and how much more i save or how toasty warm i am.
All and all I do like it. Sure its troublesome filling. But like they say with wood. "He who cuts his own wood heats himself twice" same is true for kerosene by the time you fill your warm once you light it your even warmer.
I like it. Besides if power goes out etc.. I'll still be toasty its a good alternative too a woodstove for now I think ultimatly I'd like a nice wood stove.

| I just got this for my home and the warmth is a GREAT improvement! The price for fuel is 30 to 35$ for a 5 Gal. container. But compared to the cost of electric baseboard heating, I am happy. My wife bought an additive for the fuel to give a vanilla scent which takes away the kerosene scent which is not that bad either. |
Easy set-up, easy use, works well.

| This heater seems to be as good as claimed. You do need to be sure to set it up as instructed. First burn outside. Adjust wick as instructed. Have only used it a few times so far, but am pleased. I've discovered virtually identical heater labeled with different names around. Assuming one manufacturer makes it for different companies. (much like major appliances). The up side to this is that hopefully wicks made for various named heaters will be interchangeable. Have not had to replace wick yet, so we'll see. Overall happy with product. |
Great Patio Heater

We live in a 3rd story condo, and are planning a New Years party. We just redesigned our patio built benches, made cushions, and I wanted the patio to be comfortable to sit on while outside. Our patio is open to the east, and also open in the nook to the north. So I needed something that was going to produce enough heat to keep the patio warm. We tried two other heaters (electric) before buying this one. They were horrible!
I bought mine at home depot, and they have the fuel there. I think I have a different model (DuraHeat Convection Kerosene Heater
Model DH2304), but it is the same amount of BTU's and the the same design, just looks a little different. This heater is amazing...we filled up half the tank, and have used it the last few nights to test it out. It heats up the whole area and keeps the heat coming! I plan on putting a sheet up in the nook using an expandable rod, (don't worry the sheet won't hang near the heater) I just want to try to block some of the cold air from coming in! A lot of heat comes out of the top, so I am hoping it will keep more of the heat in the patio area!
If you are looking for a great patio heater, this is the one to buy! Especially if you live in a condo! I am pretty sure we are not allowed to have propane, plus who wants a 20lb propane tank hanging around! This heater is ok'd for indoor, and if we ever loose our heat, we won't be cold! As long as we have kerosene!
There are instructions for the care of this heater, and I suggest you read them. There is important information about dry burning and cleaning the wick etc. They stress the importance of these things to keep your heater working properly! I am new to this (Giant Lantern) but the instructions are very detailed and easy to understand! Good luck! |

i am considering buying a cv2230 to heat app.700 sq.ft. have a 3 ft.door opening between 2 rooms also can open a window 1 or 2 inches have a back door to a screened porch could get good ventilation would like to have your opinion THANKS MUCH
Kerosene heaters are great as long as you go with good quality kerosene. I used one before when my house didn’t have heat and it heated up the entire floor and upper floors in below freezing weather. It will definitely handle 700 square feet.
